Our Bedroom

Today I thought I’d share some snapshots of our bedroom. We just recently purchased this headboard and I absolutely love it. All of the bedding is by Rachel Ashwell’s Shabby Chic line. I bought the throw pillow covers from Bella at Roses of Yesteryear. They’re actually a retired Rachel Ashwell print that she sewed envelope style with dainty lace detailing on the backs. Her shop is adorable, she makes quality pieces and I look forward to buying from her in the future. Sitting on the bed is one of our two cats. She’s our girl Ashes and spends the majority of the day upstairs or in our bedroom. Sometimes I think she thinks it’s her room! Lol

On one nightstand I have a soy teacup candle I made during Christmas last year, a Claude Monet Water Lillies canvas print and a blessing beads strand I created in my previous post. On the other nightstand I found this lovely lace like picture frame at a thrift store years ago and cut a card we received from our wedding to fit inside the frame. I appreciate what it says- marriage truly is a lifelong journey. So far our marriage has been a beautiful one with many ups and downs and I’m just so grateful that I have my husband by my side. Next to our bed hanging on our closet door is my wedding dress. I fell in love with the simplicity of this dress- it drapes beautifully and I love the lace detailing. I actually found this at Dillard’s for under $200 and I don’t think it was being sold as a wedding dress. I’m a simple girl and this dress fit me wonderfully. I'm excited because this year we will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary.

There’s a few things I’d like to change/add in our room. I would love to replace those dark inexpensive IKEA nightstands with some beautiful light French provincial ones (either antique or reproduction). I’m also thinking about making some lace lampshades similar to the ones sold on the Shabby Chic website. I’d like to add in more artwork- I’m researching artists similar to Laurence Amelie because I love her gorgeous paintings but cannot afford them. I like Debi Coules artwork, I’ve thought about buying her prints or even a ballerina print by Edgar Degas. I was going through our wedding photos and there’s a few I’d like printed on canvas, however, I’d like to play with the colors so I’m trying to find a free or inexpensive app in which I can mute or alter the colors. Lastly, I’m thinking about making a pretty millinery flower crown with vintage pink ribbon.

Right now our room is pretty plain so I look forward to future projects in order to infuse a little bit of color, soul and beauty. I'll be on the hunt for the perfect nightstands- wish me luck!

Until next time,

Corinna
